I'm, just a poker newbie, but I read where aggresion is very important.  In most cases, we want to put in raises preflop. This means that we’re going to face the nasty continuation bet conundrum many, many times. For the sake of avoiding predictability we can’t play it the same way every time, but most of the time we’re going to try to retain the initiative.

IT’S HARD TO MAKE A HAND. Just because we missed doesn’t mean our foe didn’t miss, too.
THEY CAN’T FOLD IF WE DON’T BET. And if they do fold, you win not just chips, but image equity, too.

so there you are, you have that big Slick, and the flop is a rag bunch of cards. It's to you. Are u a continuation player? and why?

My understanding is that a continuation bet is a bet that continues your pre-flop aggression with a bet that is about half the size of the pot.  So you can knock people out who would otherwise be checking to see the Turn, It does cost a  little but you can get away from it if someone raises you and you think that they are ahead of you.

There also is this idea to give yourself good pot odds by making the bet small and the potential winnings large as a percentage of your bet. For example, the pot is $150.  If you bet $75 then you only have to win about one in three times to make a profit on it.

So, when not sure if you have the best hand after the flop, it's time to pull out the continuation bet. Or at least so I tell myself. I'm still a donkey trying to figure this all out, and when faced with the situation find myself chickening out and just checking, which I know is wrong.

for me just depends , On how many chips i have what type of player is in the pot with me... if they like to chase flushes and draws or just make loose calls i probably would check , but if they are tight a player good chance you can go ahead and take it down so i would bet..
