After getting my step father to be into online poker there has been a bit of rivalry and needling ever since, im constantly having a go at the way he plays unable to fold any hand pre flop as he mutters the immortal words any two cards can win mate, now while i cannot deny this fact is true trying to explain the subtle reasons why thats not a good mode of mind to think in is near on imposssible so i tend to let him get on with it withs his 94 offsuits and chasin his two cards needed on flop lol.
An as we both play on the same site from the same IP address we have never actuallly had the chance to prove once and for all which way is best, so we decide to try it live and go to one of the many two table tournaments down the local bar or pub the week leading up to this visit is ful of comment s like , " oh you wont be smiling thrusday when i put your ass out first hand" and such like , and even on the way to bar that night i predicted the very scenario that your about to read about although it is not an uncommon prediction to make as its very unlikly to happen.
So we enter the bar order a few drinks to oil the wheels of commerce and pay our entry fee of ten great british pounds to a man with a tash straight out of a victorian london whore house
and fooolishly decide to sit at the same table out of the two choices and stupidly as the poker gods would prove right next to each other me being to the left of him in late position the dealers shuffles , deals, theres a few flat calls til him and he raises a min bet
?i look down squeezing my cards one king oooooh two king,not wanting to be greedy i raise the pot to scare of any shjte as i dont want o lose a big hand early on everyone folds and he calls,oh no i thought as i didnt really wana kncok him out or anything first hand the flop comes 3 6 Q he bets third of pot im thinking he has king queen ,so i flat call out comes a jack, im a little worried so i check but deep down im thinking he 94 he betsa min raise which is very odd and i call when another king hits river he goes allin with a beaing smile on face thinking he has won until i turn over 3 kings to his aces he was gutted and although there was not much chance of any of us gettin away from that hand i had to remark to him thats where your dodgy reputataion got you in trouble if id thought you were a good player i maybe just maybe couldve folded those kings if youd rasied enuff pre flop, he does now thought take on board some of my limited knowledge i have to offer him which is good we all learn from our mistakes
